We gave each other a lot of promises, a lot of reassurances — that no matter what we do, where we go, what we say, it is us. Always.
My days and nights went on and on, with the idea of sharing one of each with you. During the day, we would laugh and walk and hold each other’s hands and sometimes do everything at once. At night, we would play and dream and daydream of our lives ahead of us.
“I’m glad I found you.” You said to me.
We were far from each other, but as long as we were holding our hands, doing everything at once, I know that you were everything I’d been looking for.
And as our days went on and on, with the idea of you still wanting me. During the day, I would laugh and walk and hold the phone in my hand waiting for you. At night, I would laugh and walk and dream the long nights of my life ahead of me, without you.
“I need some space.” You said to me.
I was far from you, but as long as the memories of you are still in my head, doing everything at once, longing, crushing, hoping, dying. I don’t know what to feel anymore.
As you go on and on with your days and nights, without me, without the idea of me holding you down —
you went away, with the promise of finding yourself, but who did you find instead?
Someone.
Not me.
Maybe after all this time, I wasn’t the one you were looking for.
